Hobbies

In addition sun bathing and going for walks, we have other hobbies as well.
Conformation
Inka has been and will be shown. She has beautiful ridge and nice structure. She enjoys being in the ring. Check our show results from the "Results"-link.
Inka has been entered to following shows:
8.11.2008 Tartu international
15.11.2008 RR Speciality Show, Lahti
14.12.2008 Finnish Winner 2008, Helsinki
Obedience
We started training obedience almost immediately after Inka had settled down to our family. She has been clicker-trained. I use both toys and food as reward. There are times when I use only treats, times when we only play and sometimes I use them both. Inka might like the toy the other day, but simply refuse to play on the next. And a week after that she wants the toy instead of treats (well, she never refuses to eat treats, but she just isn't working like she usually is). A purebred ridgeback, huh...
So far, we've been in 2 trials, but due to a few training issues and the lazy owner, there hasn't been more. But we've not done yet. Our goal is to get obedience title from open class someday.
I started training obedience to Inka almost immediately when she moved home. She's being clicker-trained and enjoys obedience a lot. I have used both treats and toys to reward her. When she was young, she loved to play with a toy. But she has grown up and she's not that interested in the toy anymore. After she has got her treat, she will start to play with a toy.

Agility
Inka started on an agility course 14th September, 2006. She loves agility. She loves it, especially the A-frame and dog walk. Inka is very good at weave poles. She understood the idea almost immediately and nowdays she's both fast and thorough (if the handler doesn't make too much mistakes). Inka doesn't look like she's going fast... until you try to run with her. Her leaps are so huge, that I'm exhausted after every longer exercise we do.
Inka is kind of annoying to train. She's too good and too fast. If something doesn't work, it's always me doing something wrong or me being late. But I quess it is more or less so in every case. The only "weakness" she has is her love to A-frame and dog walk. We haven't competed yet due to Inka's fear of See Saw. She likes it a lot nowdays, but I haven't let her do it on her own yet.
Future trials:
8.11.2008 Tartu jumping
8.11.2008 Tartu agility
Messager dog trial & tracking
Inka has been tracking since age of 7 weeks. We also trained her messaging (dog runs between it's 2 handlers, delivering "messages") in quite early age. Inka loves both, but after moving, I haven't been able to train tracking or messaging. Inka knows all the things needed for BH, it is just about how to get her to show what she can do in a trial. We are retrying BH-test in the future.
Inka tracks only human tracks.
